I belong to a prayer group called the 10:59 Group. The daily message I received on Saturday was one that is such a comfort to all of those in need at this moment. Feel free to pass it on.

"Don't be afraid, Just trust me!" Those are encouraging words, don't you think? To know for sure isn't it important to know who is saying those words? If it is from me to my granddaughter to convince her to jump in the pool; I want her to know that I have her safety as a highest priority. It is words to build confidence. If the words are coming from a used car salesman - I would be a little more careful as to the motive behind the words.

But what if these words were coming from Jesus? How would you feel then? What if you just got bad news; devastating health report; rejection of the 2nd interview; the check bounced? But Jesus was there, he held your hands, he looked into your eyes and penetrated your very being and told you "Don't be afraid. Just trust me." Wow - that would change everything. If He told me not to be afraid; to trust Him - If he was right there - I could do that.

A local religious leader's daughter was very sick, he was scared, he did not know what to do, he pleaded with Jesus to place his hands upon her so she would be healed. Jesus went with him, On the way, the message came that the girl had died - it was too late; no point in Jesus coming any longer.

Mark 5:36 But Jesus ignored their comments and said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid. Just trust me."

Those in the home were mourning, but Jesus said the child was not dead, only sleeping - they laughed at him. In the room, with the girls father there, Jesus took her by the hand and said "Get up, little girl." She awoke.

At 10:59 today, lets take a moment to pray for all those who are broken, who are struggling with today, who are barely hanging on. Lord, you are right here, right now. Take my hands, Let me look into Your eyes, and let me hear you say "Don't be afraid. Just trust me."

Each night a little girl threw one of her shoes under her bed before going to sleep. When her mom asked why, she replied, " My Sunday school teacher said if I have to get down on my knees by my bed in the morning to look for my shoe, it'll remind me to say my prayers while I'm there.! " If it helps, throw your shoe under the bed - shoot, throw your whole wardrobe under your bed!!!

Colossians 4:2 Don't be weary in prayer; keep at it; watch for God's answers and remember to be thankful when they come.

The day ahead will have many challenges for us. We are already worried before we get started. We are experiencing heartbreak; we are pressed from all sides; yet, we must find strength to get through. Because as you "Get Through" you grow and can be of service to others - because you did it! Then you can share your God Moments with others and give them hope. Only when we have spent time in God's presence in prayer and drawn strength from Him, will we be equal to the challenges we face today and tomorrow and the next day.

So, like the little girl who throws her shoes under the bed, we are reminded at 10:59 to come to you in prayer Lord. We first Give you Glory and Thanksgiving for all You have already done for us - the many prayers answered already during our life. But, we come to You again, humbly, and ask for the strength that we need from You for today. You already know our needs, but we will ask expectantly today what is on our heart. We pray for all those who are hurting and need strength as well and for Your Glory to be seen so that others may believe.

It has been several months since my last post, no excuses, just life;)
With the cooler temps here in the Peach State, I was inspired to get going on my warmer items and added this new pair of fingerless gloves to my Etsy Shop.
I plan on making several more pairs and since I love to trim and embellish, I have a feeling there will be a variety of colors, styles;)

Wow I cannot believe how long it has been since I have posted on Blue Monday...Sometimes Life just gets in the way, doesn't it??

Well today I am sharing some of my latest 'blue' creations for Blue Monday, that is hosted by Sally of Smiling Sally. Be sure to visit her and all of the Blue participants!

In honor of the upcoming Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day and July 4th, these 'Little Patriot'
booties would be perfect for any little red, white and/or blue outfit!

A pair of soft alpaca baby booties in a seafoam blue-green shade and off-white. Can be for a girl or boy or custom made with a different trim. Alpaca is my favorite yarn to crochet with...so very soft!

Creamy White Rosettes

Don't you just love creamy white? So soothing and beautiful that even the tiniest rosettes can make an impact. A trio of cream rosettes embellish one of the latest pair of booties I have added to my Etsy

In celebration of May Flowers I have just listed in my shoppe, a vintage inspired pair of baby booties in luscious violet alpaca yarn. I have added a girly ruffle in cream cotton thread, a soft yellow ribbon that highlights a crocheted rosette of hot pink that surrounds a little freshwater pearl.

Oh it feels good to be creating again! It is food for the soul~~

Two Messages...

I haven't been posting very much lately and do apologize, but life has been challenging. Today however, I was led to this two messages. I actually looked for the first and it was perfect for me to hear today.
The second was a song I had never heard and stumbled upon, and together these messages are very powerful and comforting. I have a feeling I will be listening to these messages many times.

The first is today's message by Joyce Meyer on "An Attitude of Mercy".
Plain-spoken and backed by scripture, her delivery is to the point and easy to understand.

Happy PINK Saturday and I apologize for being so late in posting this. This past week is a blur and I am so grateful for that blur! I was able to work two temp jobs this week and haven't had much time to do anything else.
Thank you everyone for your sweet birthday wishes on Monday...I really do appreciate your thoughts, love and support.
Tuesday evening when I came home my sweet hubby met me at the door with a glass of wine and said that my bubble bath was waiting. Without talking back (for once;), I went upstairs and could hear the tunes of Chris Botti's beautiful music. Dinner was waiting after the bath with a chocolate fudge birthday cake....ahhh I do love that man!

Today is Monday. I ran errands, walked briskly on the treadmill (after a short self-imposed break of 6 days), did some laundy and took photos and listed 2 new items in my Etsy shoppe.

This is a perfect example of "Better late than never!" Ya'll know how the 'real-world' can impinge on our blogging? ~sigh~ So here is my late Blue Monday posting. The blue is in the aqua sweater and little bits of blue are in the scarf.

I decided to list the pink mohair long scarf that I posted about on Pink Saturday. I had briefly thought of keeping it for myself, but necessity ruled out. I also contacted the seller and was told she has more of this yarn, so I may be able to purchase more of this yarn. Crossing fingers and toes to sell this one and perhaps many, many more:)
This long scarf can be worn in several ways. It is now listed here in my shop with more photos.

Also the first of several hats for this season....

Pink Sugar and Spice for Pink Saturday

Happy Pink Saturday! I just finished this faux mohair/rayon scarf, using the very last bit of this gorgeous yarn~ a blend of faux mohair and a strand of a silky rayon mult-colors thread woven through it.

A few years ago I bought this yarn from a extraordinary yarn dealer on Ebay for a custom order I had received. This sweet dear lady wanted a very, very soft drawstring gown made for her reborn doll.
So I went on a mission to find a unique, soft and pretty yarn to make this gown in. I found a pattern that I altered for the doll's measurements and made it into a drawstring gown, as requested.

As I was making this gown, memories of my own precious babies would come to mind. Remember the Carters cotton gowns our babies wore as infants? As they grew, we would take the

drawstring out? Needless to say, being the sentimental sap that I am, I shed a few tears while

remembering those precious sweet baby moments of my two boys who are now 23 and 21.

Since the temps dipped over night I was in the mood to finally change the candles, potpourri on our
hall table. I purchased these candles at Pier One a couple of years ago and they smell so good...not
your typical fall scent, but an island spice. I loved the colors and it went with the colors in the painting above the table. I love the big, chunky potpourri too...So there you go!

Now I just need to freshen up my Fall wreath for the front door while trying to keep my teeny petite
Bella away from it. Why is it that cats just KNOW everything is about them??lol, just so funny!

Angel Friends, Cool Air and Softness

It has been a while since my last post but sometimes we just need a little break, right?

Last week I was blessed with a visit from an extraordinary couple...my angel friends. Never, ever did I expect this wonderful sweet lady and her husband (who is also sweet and wonderful) to be driving up in my driveway. Marydon stepped out of the car smiling with a beautiful basket of pink ornaments. We had never met in person, but I immediately knew who she was by her photos on her blog. They had journeyed far and were making a few stops along the way to visit a few friends. I am still so honored, surprised and filled with joy that I was one of their stops. Marydon is a precious soul and I am so grateful that we are friends (sistahs;)). Please visit her blog and read about our very special visit....Oh and there is a photos of my teeny, delicate Bella!

With the few days of cooler weather here in the Peach State, I have been crocheting some new mohair scarves for my Etsy Shop. They are very soft and have been made with yarns that are unusual, since I purchased them from an yarn vendor on Ebay. I have sold the last one that was in my shop a couple of days ago...

Just added this one today...mohair in shades of amethyst and sky blue with a thin boucle yarn that adds shades of cocoa, blues, amethyst and olive.

Also new in my shop....A starter set for Newborns~3 prs of baby booties with a coordinating hat made in your choice of colors and trims. Can also be made for preemies too!

Pink Saturday Bits of Pink through the years

Today I am sharing several shades of pink~ all with a story.

The oldest piece is the embroidered table scarf that was made

by a relative, although my mom and I cannot remember which relative

created it...lol! I have a few of these and use them all the time

to display my crocheted pieces in my Etsy shop.

The vintage kitty vase was given to my mom when I was born.

Such a cute little face~ I just love these vases.

The soft pink duponi silk pillow was given to me from a

very sweet friend this past Christmas and I do treasure it very much.

See the beautiful rose in the kitty vase? That was made out of

coffee filters by my very talented friend

Sharon of Shardon Exclusives .

She is an incredibly talented lady and creates the most gorgeous

beaded jewelry. The detail and quality of her work is amazing along with

the love she puts into every piece. I am honored to have several

items of hers and love each one.

The newest item in the photo is the pair of pink booties that I recently

crocheted. These are made to fit a newborn and are available in

my Etsy shop.

This past Sunday we celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary! After only knowing each other for eight months, we got married~ we were young, crazy in love and wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. No big plans. Just to travel this journey together, through it all. I am so grateful for my husband, the love of my life, my rock and my hero. Here's to at least 30 more!

Calm and comfort will follow. It seems like a simple thing, but at times is so hard to do with the challenges
and stresses that come with life. All I know is that when I have completely turned my problems, doubts and fears over to Him....I have actually felt a calm, a comfort and joy... He is always there and knows our hearts and thoughts even before we do..

Handmade Luxuries from a New Friend!

Look at these beautiful handmade soaps I received from a new blog friend Michelle of SierraSnowSoaps
Handmade soaps are one of those special little things that I really, really love! Having very sensitive skin, shea butter is so soothing and does not dry my skin out like most commercial soaps do.

I found Michelle through Link Referral, a service I have been using for a while. It is a great way to drive traffic to your site, boost your SEO rankings while reviewing other websites and blogs.

After leaving a comment on Michelle's blog, she left a review on my blog. We emailed back and forth and she told me about her friends' preemie, Mia. I was honored and excited that she chose me to make something for precious baby Mia. Michelle is posting about what she recieved from me for baby Mia today on her blog, too. What fun!!

Michelle makes these beautiful soaps from SNOW that she gathers from the Sierra Nevada mountains!

It was so hard for me to decide which scents I wanted. They all sound sooo mahvelous! I knew I wanted Lavender, since that is one of my favorites. Don't these sound (and look) delicious~Coconut Lime Verbena, Sunkissed Currant, Vetyver, Black Raspberry & Vanilla and Lavender!

1). I found this very, very delicious recipes for Scones....from Lorraine at With a Grateful Prayer and a Thankful Heart...AND all of my sweet boys LOVED them. Actually that is why this is the only photo,they started disappearing very quickly:) This is 3rd batch (1st was all cranberry, then cranberry/blueberry) that I have made and within 24 hours there was not a crumb left~~~ Thank you so much Lorraine♥!

2) This recipe reaffirms that I still can bake, even though it has been at night when it is not so blasted hot~lol! and....

We received an email this morning from a dear family friend, Eddy Calcines.

Since we no longer live in the Tampa Bay area, he wanted to share this

article in The St. Petersburg Times today, about his book, "Leaving Glorytown".

For over 34 years Eddy had been a close friend of my family.

My parents and sister still get their hair cut by Eddy and we think of him as family.

Problem solved with a new Background

Well the issue I was having with my background has been solved....well kinda. The previous background that I had (that I really loved) was with scrappinblogs. Due to issues with photobucket, their templates are unavailable at this time. So those of you who had background templates with scrappinblogs may have a blank background now.

Sooooo, here is my new "dress!" Totally different but since I didn't want to change the header too, this was the best one I could find this afternoon. Hopefully scrappinblogs will be up again soon....

Courtesy of Paula Deen's recipe (The Lady & Sons, pg 230)

Lemon Bars

Yields 24 bars

Crust

2 c all-purpose flour

1 c confectioners' sugar

pinch of salt

1 c (2 sticks) butter, at room temp

Filling

4 eggs

2 c granulated sugar

6 T all-purpose flour

6 T fresh lemon juice

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease a 13x9x2 inch pan. Make the crust: Combine the flour, confectioners' sugar and salt in a large bowl. Cut in the butter to make a crumbly mixture. Press the mixture into the prepared pan. You may need to dip your fingers into a little flour or confectioners' sugar to keep the dough from sticking to your fingers. Bake for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, make the filling: Mix the eggs, granulated sugar, flour and lemon juice. Pour this over the baked crust and bake for 25 minutes longer. Sprinkle with confectionersugar, if desired, when the bars are done.

These were sooooo delicious! Thank you Paula:) I just made these last night and there are just a few left.

#2 Son LOVES them, so I will be making them again very soon.

I was so touched when I opened the package because of the message.

I use this phrase in my signature quite a bit when commenting or sending emails.

This little token is sitting on our hall table for all of us to see. I haven't embellished it

and not really sure if I will.

Taken on May 18, 2007 This iconic photograph drew a number of responses from readers of the Nashville paper, The Tennessean, including this one: Dear Tennessean: The Tennessean's April 5 photograph of young Christian Golczynski accepting the American flag from Marine Lt. Col. Ric Thompson is one of the most moving and emotion provoking images I have ever seen. As one would expect, many of your readers were touched by this incredible picture. Staff Sergeant Golczynski had previously served one full tour in Iraq. Shortly before his death on March 27 he wrote to his family that he had volunteered to do this a second time due to our deep desire to finish the job we started. In his letter he said, "We fight and sometimes die so that our families don't have to." Tragically, Staff Sergeant Golczynski had only two weeks remaining on his second tour. We look at the photograph of Christian every day. It is displayed prominently in our home. Our hearts ache for Christian and for all those who have lost loved ones in this controversial conflict. When looking at the face of Christian Golczynski I am reminded that doing what is right is not always easy and doing what is easy is not always right. Christian's dad knew that too. James Drescher Franklin, TN I have looked into the eyes of a family member as I handed him or her a folded American flag at the end of a military burial service. I have fought to maintain my composure as I said, "On behalf of a grateful nation . . ." And looking at this picture I am struck by several thoughts: Lieutenant Colonel Thompson is not some administrative staffer for whom the notion of service and sacrifice is some vague concept to be carted out when it's politically expedient. Rainy May Day, Roses,Sachets and a little Fairy Magic

Happy May Day sweet friends! As beautiful as it was here yesterday, today is here with cloudy skies and rain. So happy I clipped my roses yesterday before the storm.

The red rose in the photo above is a "Don Juan" and I am not sure about the creamy white one.

I am not a rose expert by any stretch of the imagination..lol! I just appreciate their beauty.

This is one of my very favorite roses..."Abraham Darby". A delicate scent,yet grows to be huge with many layers of ballet pink petals. Delicate yet strong,I like that. Her petals dry to be a light lavender.

After the petals are spent, they are dried and used in my packages and also in my sachets and mini pillows.

Here is a few more photos from Saturday's Southern Belle, GA Bloggers Retreat.

This is continued from my previous post on this wondrous day.

This is my name tag that I made for the retreat. At first I had no clue how I was going to make a name tag. I am not an artist, do not draw, paint, make jewelry and definitely not a mixed media pro. I only crochet and sew a bit.

Then I found this sweet little girl image and LOVED her immediately...the colors were perfect.

I think you will be seeing her quite a bit more, too;)

Inspired by the colors I crocheted the trim and added the ribbon. I didn't want to attempt gluing and messing up all this work, so I hand sewed it on the card with pearls. I had already made the rose and it must have been meant for this tag....so there you go.

~Spending Saturday with Southern Belles,Part 1~

This past Saturday was one of those days that you wish would never end....A group of 12 Georgia bloggers got together for our very first Southern Belle Retreat at a cute little restaurant (Pecker's) in Hoschton, GA, which is north of Atlanta.

The day could not have been more perfect~~~ absolutely gorgeous weather, great food and the most amazing, beautiful and very talented women. Most of us were meeting for the very first time but it felt like we had been friends forever...

Thank you so, so very much Yvette (The Charm House) and Sharon (Shardon Exclusives) for making this dream of a day possible. So much time and work went into this and I know we are all so thankful:)

The Baby Gown is home....

I was honored to receive an order to make this Thread Christening Gown Ensemble for a sweet baby girl.
Today I was delighted to hear that the package arrived safely home and my sweet buyer was very happy. She was looking on Etsy for an heirloom keepsake for her new granddaughter.

There are over 66,000 stitches in the dress and the underskirt is completely handsewn in french batiste cotton. This is one of two patterns I have, both are from the 1950's.

I am very grateful that I learned to crochet as a young girl, by a very dear family friend, June. She took the time to teach me the basic stitches. She could crochet anything~ beautiful afghans, pillows and I just was fascinated in watching her hands move while creating so many wonderful things with a hook and some yarn.

One stitch at a time....Thank you sweet June. I hope you are smiling...

Today, March 3, 2010 is End The R-word Day.

Sixth grade at Lake Magdalene Elementary School was the first time I met someone who was slow or "r". I had never know anyone who was not normal. Sure there were some mean boys who teased beyond belief, but this new boy was quiet, sweet and polite. I can remember as a child feeling sad for him and uncomfortable. Not because he was different, but because I felt unsure if he would understand when I read to him or helped him as the teacher had asked. That has stayed with me all of these years.

So for as long as I can remember I have felt uncomfortable using this "R" word.

For almost 20 years now, this has been a very difficult word to say or even think. Our younger son Chris is developmentally delayed...no reason, no named disability or condition. So for almost 20 years now the "R" word has even more impact on me as a mother of one of the most amazing, brave,
bighearted people I know...my son.

This past Saturday we took Chris and his friend Jenna to a "Mad-Hatter's Dinner and Dance" sponsored by Special Olympics and The Knights of Columbus. It was such a wonderful afternoon of fun, happiness and great food. A few hours to just forget all of the challenges and have fun. It was just amazing and I can not believe that I forgot my camera!!Hopefully I will have photos to share in the next couple of days.

It is a Christening Gown Set crocheted in cotton thread. What an honor to be making this for a sweet baby girl that will be a keepsake for years to come...I am blessed.

Special Olympics GA State Games

Today we went to watch our younger son Chris play Floor Hockey at the Special Olympics GA State Games. He has been playing floor hockey since middle school and this is his first year in the Masters Program. Their team, the Gwinnett Gladiators played the Jaguars for the best 2 out of 3 games. Oh Yes, Chris is in the red helmet!♥

All of the athletes played their hearts out and it was so exciting to watch. Our team lost both games 7-6 and 3-1, but they all felt like winners, because they played their BEST and had FUN! Each athlete was presented a gold medal as their names were called after the final game.The athletes and their coaches stay there all weekend in a hotel, play their games and hang out at the Olympic Village for recreation, snacks.

These are those moments that make our heart sing, as parents of Special Needs children. To be able to experience our child (back row, 3rd from the left♥) playing his heart out as a team member and to be recognized as an athlete, it is priceless.

New Year SALE for Vintage Dollie Lovers!

Happy New Year everyone! I know I am a little late in these wishes, but I have not felt like posting since last Monday. This flu beast has finally (fingers crossed) started to let go. Since yesterday I have been feeling better, but am not going to overdo it again.

I have several vintage dolls listed on Ebay. My seller id is celtic480.
I have never really been a collector, really. I started buying these vintage dolls to use as models for my crocheted doll clothes. Though I have created my patterns based on measurements only, I have used these dolls to model the booties, sweaters, bonnets, etc in my listings.

Now, out of necessity it is time to pass these beautiful babies onto another dollie mom. Most of my dolls have had a "makeover" by a very talented doll lover. Shown in the photos are: 16" American Character Tiny Tears, 11.5" American Character Tiny Tears and 8" Ideal Betsy Wetsy. All of these dolls are from the 1950's.

Hope everyone had a joyous Christmas~~Mine was a blur...the f-l-u had me in bed the past five or so days. Today is the first day I have been dressed in something other than pj's and a robe...lol!

Last night I started feeling better so this is what I started...a lacy scarf crocheted in a mohair blend yarn. w long. It is very soft and feminine. The shade is a combination of sea blue and robin's egg blue....just gorgeous and one of my favorite colors. I will let you know how it progresses and when it is available for sale. I do have other colors too....lilac, black, camel, white, olive, lt pink, and a darker shade of sea blue.

I am trying to pace myself, so I don't feel bad again. Haven't had the flu in a long time and this took me by surprise. I am so grateful my hubby and older son didn't get it (fingers crossed here). Our younger son, Chris had the flu at the beginning of Dec, so I was next in line.

Looking forward to a New Year and full of optimisim. As a nation, we need to turn to God's Plan for our country and seek His Guidance. Please continue to pray for those in need, our brave and outstanding men and women in the military who sacrifice everything to keep us safe and FREE! May God bless them and their wonderful families.

Our Birthday Boy~~

Last Thursday was our first born's 23rd birthday. Like almost every mom, his arrival into this world is forever etched in my memory and heart. I remember the unbelievable joy as I realized that I was pregnant. Not only would this be our first baby, but also my parents first grandchild, first niece or nephew in my immediate family!
He has been our joy and love from the moment of his birth. He was indeed our Christmas gift.
We love you dear Michael and are so proud of you as a son and the young man that you have become....I know the Lord has a wonderful plan for you, sweet boy.

We had a wonderful family celebration at home on his birthday. The gift of family time and be able to enjoy each other.

I had planned on posting this the very next day, but have been feeling like I was getting a cold and extremely tired. Well, today that 'cold' was diagnosed as the flu. I am on my way up to rest but wanted so much to share this celebration with all of you.

I am so humbled and grateful by my very sweet friends that I met since starting my blog. Thank you so much for your emails of concern and love...I appreciate it with all of my heart.

There are so many people suffering at this moment and need comfort. Please pray for those in need, our brave military and their families, our country and those who have been elected to represent the American people. Above all to praise and give thanks to God for His Gift to us all this season.

It has been a while since my last post, due to several 'life challenges.'
When I found this song/video and read the beautiful and simple words, I found comfort. I know there are so many who are facing tremendous challenges, hardship, sadness and may feel helpless. May these words be spoken in prayer and bring you comfort and peace.

As Christians, we believe (John 3:16-17) "For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son, that whoever believed in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him."

Please continue to let your voices be heard to those in government office about your concerns with what is happening in our country. Though it may seem like they are not listening now, they will be listening in next year's election. We have to remain strong to what our country was founded on and to protect our freedoms and our Constitution.
Please continue to pray for our brave men and women in uniform. Every moment they are sacrificing everything to keep us safe.

This is the latest lavender sachet that I have crocheted and it is available for purchase on my LynnsLoveliesToo blog.
Crocheted in a delicious cream cotton thread and lined in ivory tulle, this sachet is full of fresh lavender buds. The scent is heavenly. I have crocheted the back in an antique rose wool for that little punch of color.
The entire sachet has been made by hand.
Ideal to hang from a drawer, a chair, used as a pillow or even a Christmas ornament~so many possibilites!

I have never considered myself a real collector. I do love older beautiful things that have been cherished for years, by many hands and hearts. That may be one of the reasons I love to crochet, especially with thread and thinner fibers. The interweaving of stitches that together create a beautiful design...like hearts that together make a family or friendship.

The Power of One Voice

As American citizens, we need to let our voices be heard. So much is on the line and it can be very frightening and overwhelming.
One thing is for sure that each of our voices needs to be heard, because it is our future and our children's future that will change. Not all change is for the better.

This is an editorial on the Patriot Post that I read this morning.

Now is the time to stand up for our freedoms. Call or write your elected officials and tell them how YOU as an American feels...that it is your HEALTH and that you do CARE!
